Some members of the new house band
Ann Harrison-Broninski

Ann is a poet - see her own website for details.

She and her husband Keith co-founded Nunney Jazz Cafe in October 1998.  Her vision for its future has always been as an experimental arts forum; a continuously challenging and exciting environment in which musicians, artists and poets of various styles and disciplines can interact.

Ann is responsible for introducing the  non-jazz elements to the café - poetry, artists, children’s entertainment, performance art, alternative traders, charities, etc - and it is her job to organise  these things for each event.  Although the music is really Keith’s department, Ann does give some input into musical themes.  She also pushes for the incorporation of musical styles other than the jazz that Keith loves so much!

Ann feels strongly about maintaining the relaxed community based atmosphere of the cafe and is a firm defender of the venue, Nunney Village Hall, as she feels some magic would be lost were it to  move.  On the actual day of the cafe, Ann is not usually performing, but is always there as “front of house” - welcoming, co-ordinating, solving problems, etc.

For more on Ann’s views of the cafe see “Nunney Jazz Cafe, what it means to us and what we are  trying to achieve” (originally published in The Journal, Spring 2001).
